Mörkö is sailing again...

Finally, the lake is free from ice! The weather wasn't the best possible but at least it was not raining. I pushed Mörkö into the lake and visited the island shortly.

The foggy lake was calm and I could hear only divers and gulls calling... and of course Mörkö's diesel engine

The water level is high. Melted snow and ice rised the level.

The yard looked like it was autumn. One week or so and the spring really arrives, trees will have new leaves, flowers will raise up from the ground...

... and then the nasty surprise. Somebody had broken the window and lived inside the cottage. Luckily, the rum bottle was untouched!

In fact I had heard what had happened. Some weeks ago, two young men were riding a snow mobile on the lake. The snow mobile had stucked in the snow. These men had to come inside the cottage and stay over night before they could walk back to the mainland asking for help. They heated the stove and slept in MY cabin. Well, they didn't break anything but the window and probably they might be dead without staying in the cottage. The weather had been cold and walking on the ice was really difficult because there was a lot of water on the ice under the snow layer. Not to mention that it was dark and they were lost! I think they will not ride a snow mobile for a while just for "fun".

When I returned from the island, I started to play with my digital SLR. There's an option for HD video and I hadn't played with it before, so now you can hop on the boat... (must wear your life jackets!)

The damage cost less than 10€, so it's not worth paying... this is not America - I bet you could claim $2000000 for saving their lives (per person)

I can think about a longer movie. I have made some travel movies but editing the material is so painful, especially editing HD.

Hey, not all Americans are like that! :(

So glad they only broke the glass and were courteous and respectful of your lovely cabin that saved their lives. I would have found a way to send you money to pay for repairs and to thank you for having the cabin in the first place, but at least they didn't do as much damage as they COULD have.

Ok, $1500000/person might be enough

Finns are usually quite reasonable people. If I had left the door unlocked, I wouldn't have notice that they ever were there. In fact the sauna's door is unlocked just for this kind of needs but they didn't figure it out in the darkness. These young men are known and they have compensated their sins.

There's a lake near our villa and I love to take a walk when it's foggy - it looks so mysterious :D

Nice video. It would be great to see more videos from your island adventures.

They were really lucky there was a cottage on the island ! They broke a window but in exchange gave you a story to tell. ^_^

And thank you for that ride on Mörkö.
