I saw this "thing" in a hotel in Zürich. The glass cage is a wine storage! When I have collected enough good wines, I need one of those. Of course I need an angel to buzz inside like they had. She could pick down the bottle for me...

16th-Sep-2009 10:12 pm - Angels
I visited two different cemeteries in Zürich and found many angels. I also found this!

It's... err, UGLY! It's so ugly that it's almost cool. Judge yourself!

16th-Sep-2009 12:25 am - Devil's wheel
Zürich is a beautiful city, especially when it's dark. I hadn't been in a devil's wheel before (well, I haven't jumped a bungee jump either) and we decided to try one. I thought (heh heh) that this might be too exciting to my lovely local guide.

Follow me to the summit of Mount Pilatus. This is just kids' play, only a half of the height of Mount Kinabalu! After the rope "bridge" we climb a bit...
6th-Jul-2008 09:00 am - Damn indeed...
Obviously I burned my arms too. So, for now on I'm the redskin. Speaking about burning myself it reminds me Anthony, the street artist from Luzern who had his show on the streets of the city centre yesterday. He played with balls, knives, fire etc. I loved his show - especially the part when he warned children and said "burning children spoil the atmosphere". Heheh!

Could download this image from my mobile phone...

One more thing before I have to leave this hotel room. I didn't know that swans are birds of prey. Yesterday, when I was sitting in peace by the shore of Lake Lucerne, a swan appeared from nowhere and attacked. It bit my thumb. Perhaps it was reaching for my ice cream but anyway...
5th-Jul-2008 11:47 pm - Damn, I burned my face !
I thought that all I needed here were a raincoat and an umbrella. On Saturday the sky was clear and blue. I went to Mount Pilatus (2132 meters) and spent there all day. I forgot my sun lotion home and now my pale face is red like a boiled crab. I'm not sure if it's turning to brownish or do I get a whole new face. If I'll get a new one, I hope it's more handsome that the current one. I shot some pictures but (lucky you!) I can't attach them here in the hotel room. Forgot the cable. Maybe I'll publish them later.

Tomorrow I'll return to Finland. I bought a souvenier - a cuckoo-clock. It's just like the one they repaired with bad results in my previous entry. My grandparents had just the same kind of clock long ago - well it sounded a decent cuckoo (not those grunting voices). This new one will be placed on the wall of my island cottage.

On Thursday I went to a restaurant and ordered a big beer. I thought it would be a one-litre jar. The waitress brought a bucket of beer with big empty jar. I didn'r hesitate at all but drank it all while kids from the next table amazed and admired my supper. They were American tourist. I claimed to be American too :) In fact people here keep asking if I came from the U.S. ! Should I change my drinking habits or accent...

Well, I have bought some post cards. Those who have given me their real name and address may receive a card in the future. Nevertheless, greetings from Switzerland to everyone!

30th-Nov-2006 11:31 pm - Switzerland 25-28.11.2006

I have always known that Switzerland is a leading country of watchmakers. Now I saw with my own eyes those unbelievable many watch shops with cuckoo clocks and luxury wrist watches. Cuckoo clocks are nice looking but what a horrible noise they have! When I was a kid and lived with my parents I remember we had one of those fascinating clocks. In fact this was very common clock type years ago in Finland, there was at least one cuckoo clock almost in every home.  After every half an hour little door opens and small wooden cuckoo comes out with that horrible voice. I didn't even think about to buy such a torture time machine.
